Bargains and cakes, 30 August 2025

Thanks to all the volunteers before, at the event, and after. Most importantly, thank you to the public that came to support the event.

You can follow our events and updates on the church’s page on Facebook. We put events up on Facebook too so you can share them with your friends! Table top event Facebook event.

From Maria:
“A really big thank-you to all church family that came to help – not just on the day, to serve behind counters and bringing family and friends to come buy things – but behind the scenes, before the the event too.
“To those who came in at all times of the day and put their hands to the plough, to help sort through the mammoth task that can only be described as a literal house clearance, your efforts have been rewarded. Well done!
“The organisation that went into this one event has prepared the groundwork for BRMC to ‘pop-up’ many more similar events, efficiently, effectively and successfully in future.
“So, watch this space, church family and Keep The Faith!”

Donations we need

  • jumble items this Thursday 10am – 4pm, and on Friday 2-6pm
  • tasty baked goods, perishable fruit and veg, plants only from 8am on Saturday
  • donations of paper plates, cups, (for squash), napkins, to help keep the washing-up to a minimum and squash/soft drinks, would also be very welcome!
  • jumble donations to sell includes children’s clothing, toys, games, (as well as board games), household ware and garden plant

Thank you all in advance.

Thanks to Maria for contributing to the information below. Thanks too to Pat for the posters.

This heralds the start of many fundraising events BRMC hope to undertake to raise money and awareness.

Anyone that would like to contribute to the day by baking or buying cakes and biscuits to sell with a cup of tea would be gratefully received. You will be amazed at how much tea and coffee and a slice of cake can raise!

Donations of paper plates, cups, and napkins, to help keep the washing-up to a minimum, plus squash and soft drinks, would also be very welcome!

Jumble we want to sell includes children’s clothing, toys, games, (as well as board games), household ware and garden plants.

Things that can be sold from a table-top and anything that’s in good condition, clean and ready to sell is most welcome and will make the unenviable process of sorting and set-up prior to the event much easier!

We are also going to sell a certain amount of vintage/retro clothes, (though there will be another sale – at a later date – exclusively for this type of sale); so if anyone has retro/vintage clothing in good condition they think will appeal to secondary/university students – as well as any spare hangers to display them – the team would be very grateful.

Anyone able to drop stuff off can do it this week and leave it in or near the Wesley room, or the kitchen if it’s food.

Maria will be there all day on Thursday, and on Friday afternoon to take in jumble. If you need help to transport anything please arrange pick-up via Maria or Philip.

The sale starts at 10am, on Saturday, but Philip’s team will be there from 8am for delivery of baked goods.

Thank you all in advance.
