We are delighted to host this local and published historian, Cliff Mewett, who has a vast and fascinating knowledge of Sussex history. This will be an enjoyable evening delivered in Cliff’s trademark style of bringing history to life. He will share anecdotes and memories of the town of Bognor Regis. Cliff is author of the books ‘Bognor in the Great War’ and ‘Sussex at War 1935-45’, and a number of other titles and articles.
Cliff is a Sussex enthusiast and has lived in the area his whole life, which fostered his fascination with history. Born in Hastings, his career was split between the Prudential and the Post Office, following time and commissioning in the armed services.
Event organisers, Ray and Hilary, said: “We recently moved to the area and wanted to know more about the history of our adopted town of Bognor Regis. We were delighted that local historian Cliff offered his services as a fundraising event to help with church finances.”
Earlier in 2025, Cliff gave a talk on the history of the Bognor Regis Methodist Church in the town, as the church celebrates its centenary of mission, outreach and community, based at Waterloo Square for the last 100 years.
